It is recommended for all engineering students, and required for all computer science students, to have a laptop computer that meets or exceeds the specifications provided below. Many courses require students to use their computers both on and off campus,
and a laptop enables students to work in an “anywhere, anytime” mode, allowing for greater mobility, flexibility, and collaboration. Minimum and most flexible hardware specifications are highlighted below, as well as recommendations based on a student's program of study.
Many engineering applications only develop versions that are available on the Windows operating system. Students with Mac computers can access these applications by leveraging our remote access tools. Check out our tutorials for more information.
These recommendations and requirements are intended for undergraduate engineering students and all computer science students. Graduate students may work with their advisor or contact firstname.lastname@example.org for advice.
