7 May (and 3 Sept) | Partnerships for Innovation (PFI)

NSF

The PFI program offers researchers from all disciplines of science and engineering funded by NSF the opportunity to perform translational research and technology development, catalyze partnerships, and accelerate the transition of discoveries from the laboratory to the marketplace for societal benefit. This opportunity is open to any PI or co-PI that had an NSF award that ended no more than seven years prior to the full proposal deadline date or be a current NSF award recipient. The proposed technology development project must be derived from the research results and/or discoveries from this underlying NSF award. There are two tracks:

  1. Technology Translation (PFI-TT): supports proof-of-concept, prototyping, technology development, and/or scale-up work.
  2. Research Partnerships (PFI-RP): supports the same activities as PFI-TT but for complex, multi-faceted projects that require partnerships with industry, non-academic research organisations, federal labs, technology transfer organisations, or other universities.

Submission to the PFI-RP track is a limited submission opportunity; please work with your research administrator and the limited submission office early if you are interested in applying to this track.
