The new Center of Excellence on New Mobility and Automated Vehicles (“Mobility COE”) will collect, conduct, and fund research on the impacts of new mobility and highly automated vehicles on land use, urban design, transportation, real estate, equity, and municipal budgets.” New mobility is defined as transportation network companies (e.g., Uber or Lyft), docked and dockless bikes, and docked and dockless scooters. The FHWA anticipates funding up to a total amount of $1,500,000 per year for a total of $7,500,000. Applicants must identify at least two partnering organizations and the associated roles and responsibilities of each partner organization in order to fully cover the breadth of research topics. 20% cost sharing is required.
