The ASCENT program will support high-quality and ambitious fundamental research projects that involve the research areas of one or more ECCS clusters and are unsuitable for smaller teams or shorter durations. A compelling and innovative research problem, critically involving one or more ECCS cluster research areas (Communications, Circuits, and Sensing-Systems (CCSS); Electronics, Photonics and Magnetic Devices (EPMD); Energy, Power, Control, and Networks (EPCN)) must lie at the heart of an ASCENT proposal. This year’s ASCENT focuses on the major topic of climate change. The two research themes are Integrated Electronic Systems enabled by Wide-Bandgap/Ultrawide-Bandgap Semiconductors for Climate Change Mitigation and Integrated Power Systems for Clean Energy.
