Gary Bolton

Gary Bolton currently serves as president and CEO of the Fiber Broadband Association — the largest trade association in the Americas dedicated to all-fiber-optic broadband. Prior to taking the leadership role at the Fiber Broadband Association, Gary served as vice president of global marketing and government affairs at publicly traded tech company. Gary has also held executive management positions at two successful venture-backed high-tech start-ups as well as at large publicly traded companies in marketing and product line management. Gary served as the chairman at the Huntsville Chamber of Commerce, co-chairman of BITAG (Broadband Internet Technology Advisory Group), a board member at Teach For America, the Huntsville Botanical Garden, the Chamber Foundation, The Land Trust, president for SORBA-Huntsville and an MIT CEO mentor at Hudson Alpha, Leadership Alabama, Leadership Huntsville and serves on the University of Alabama in Huntsville college of business executive advisory board. 

Gary is currently an adjunct professor in business administration and management science at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and he holds an MBA from Duke University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University.

The One Thing I Did Right

I was once an Engineer.  The training has served me well throughout my career, but I quickly found out that the best talent, product, or technology doesn’t always win.  Market forces, positioning, timing, and policy often determine the winners and losers.  I will share my thoughts and experiences as to why engineers might want to consider earning an MBA.
