The BioEngineering Empowerment Program (BEEP) was created in the summer of 2020 as a way to provide opportunities and resources for high school students to gain access to engineering, medicine, and other STEAMM (science, technology, engineering, art, math, & medicine) fields. BEEP is a community oriented, student-led initiative. It connects local middle and high school students with the bioengineering program at the CU Denver and CU Anschutz campuses. BEEP pursues its mission, vision, and values by providing specialized STEAMM workshops that engage students in a variety of topics that follow NGSS standards intermixed with DEI standards. BEEP also provides mentorship, lab tours, industry partner activities, and other ways for middle and high school students to engage with the resources available at the CU campuses.
