A bioengineering lab at CU Anschutz Medical Campus
Welcome to the Bio-Inspired Pulmonary Engineering Lab in the Division of Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care Medicine, Department of Medicine and Department of Bioengineering at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus!
We develop engineered cell culture platforms, that precisely and consistently mimic the dynamic and complex architecture, composition and mechanical properties of lung tissue in vitro. These bioengineered lung models enable us to study lung disease and regeneration using patient-derived cells bridging the gap between basic research results obtained using traditional cell culture techniques and rodent animal models and the outcomes of clinical studies. Our results will provide a foundation for development of precision medical treatments.
