Fernando Mancilla-David, PhD

Professor of Electrical Engineering

Fernando Mancilla-David is a full professor at the University of Colorado Denver, where he teaches and directs research in energy and power systems. He is a faculty member of the Electrical Engineering Department.

Prof. Mancilla-David received the BS degree in electrical engineering from the Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria, Valparaiso, Chile, in 1999, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, Wisconsin, in 2002 and 2007, respectively.

He was a visiting scientist at ABB Corporate Research in Vasteras, Sweden in the summer of 2008, and has been a visiting professor at L’Ecole superieure d’electricite (Supelec), Paris, France, in the summers of 2009 and 2010; at the Berlin Institute of Technology, Berlin, Germany in the summer of 2011; at the University of Roma 3, Rome, Italy in the summer of 2012; at the Technical University of Catalonia, Barcelona, Spain, in the summer of 2013; at the Federal University of Pernambuco, Recife, Brazil in the summer of 2014; and at ITMO University, Saint Petersburg, Russia in the summer of 2016. During the 2016-1017 academic year, he was on sabbatical leave at PUC-Rio University, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
