Department operating hours and contacts
The future of manufacturing is here, and it’s additive! Thanks to the support from the Denver Economic Development & Opportunity (DEDO), the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Colorado Denver is excited to announce a unique opportunity for incumbent workers in the Denver area. From November 1, 2024, to April 30, 2025, CU Denver will offer free Additive Manufacturing (AM) training designed to equip participants with cutting-edge skills and industry-recognized certifications.
The National Football League and Football Research, Inc. awarded Impressio, Inc. and the University of Colorado Denver $491,999 in HeadHealthTECH grant funding. This will support Chris Yakacki, associate professor of mechanical engineering and co-founder of Impressio, and his team’s work on the creation of innovative helmet prototypes. These will be submitted as part of the ongoing NFL Helmet Challenge, a contest that has an additional prize of $1 million. Impressio was launched as a startup in 2017 and licenses CU Denver technology developed by Yakacki’s research team.
